Missing Children of William and Lucinda Reed

Well, now, with the probable discovery of the path of Benjamin Franklin Reed, we are down to three children of William and Lucinda whose histories are missing. From Lucinda's obituary, at the time of her death, we know that one child was still in Virginia (William Grey Reid), one child was in New Orleans (Maggie Stockton), one was in Arkansas (?), four were in West Virginia (James, Benjamin, Sarah Bartlett, and ?), and one had died prior to Lucinda (?).

The three left were Lucinda Radabaugh, Elizabeth, and John.

Since Lucinda Radabaugh's husband, Simon, remarried in 1878 in West Virginia, and we know from census records that Lucinda Radabaugh was living in 1870 in Upshur Co., we can assume that if she were living still in 1873, which we do not yet know, she can be counted as one living in West Virginia. So Lucinda was either the deceased child or living in West Virginia.

So if Lucinda Radabaugh was still living in 1873, either John or Elizabeth were the deceased child, and either John or Elizabeth was living in Arkansas. If Lucinda was deceased, of course, of John and Elizabeth...one would have been in West Virginia and one in Arkansas.

Anyone out ther have additional clues?

Lucinda and Willaim Reed had a daughter at 2 months old passed on 1 july 1879- There was no name mentioned in death records except parents names, this was in vital records

That has to be a different William and Lucinda, since Lucinda died in 1873. Do you have any additional information that would help identify the William and Lucinda that you mentioned?

I just looked again and there daughter at 3 day's old passed away on 23 July 1872- It shows William B Reed as father giving information to this fact. I will have to check further on the baby for 1 July 1879 this might be a mistake to another I am sorry but female child 3 days old passed in Taylor county 23 july 1872 no name for the female child

Also informtion is this That William B and Lucinda had a baby girl named Hannah her birth was 8 aug 1867-- The child named Lucinda was born 11 June 1873 to Hannah and Chapin Reed not Willaim and Lucinda

Hello, My name is Nancy Hyre and I am trying to research Wm Reed and Lucinda Crayton and the WM Reed that married Sena Adams. I do believe them to be the same William but I have a couple questions. The 1850 census shows Mary age 40. Was this Lucindas' first name or middle name? Also a Lucinda Read is shown living with Sarah Bartlett and her husband in 1870 and is shown as age 60. This agrees with "Marys' age" on the 1850 census but is 13 yrs off from Lucindas' age in her obit. Do you have any thoughts on this?
My husband descends from Thomas J Reed son of William and Sena Adams. I will be happy to share anything you are interested in from him.
The Reeds are so difficult to sort out because there are so many and they seem to use all the same names over and over.
Thanks for your help and I look forward to hearing from you.

I believe that Mary must have been Lucinda's middle name. I agree that everything points to William Reid being married to Lucinda and then Sena. If you husband, son, or any other male directly descended from William Reid and Sena Adams is so inclined, I would encourage them to participate in a DNA genealogy program like http://familytreedna.com
Then we could say with at least 99% certainty that we are all descended from the same William. I have a PDF of my ongoing research in to the family that I would be glad to share. Anyone interested can post a comment (which will not be published) with their email address. Also please let me know if you would like to post any of your research or photos to this site. Nancy, do you or any of your husband's relatives have any old Reed/Reid family photos? I would love to see some scans!

Oh, as far as the age differences of Lucinda...census record ages are often wrong, so I think we are still ok on that account.

Lucinda Reed, daughter of William and Lucinda Reed, died on 24 Nov 1868 from the measles. She was 2 yrs 11 mod and 27 days. So, it was Lucinda that was the dead child

I hope you can help me sort through dates and names for William and his wives and children. I have William b. 1805 married first to Lucinda b. 1808, and they had the following children:
William Grey Reed b. 1819
James Harrison Reed b. 1823
Benjamin Franklin Reed b.1835
Margaret Reed b. 1840
Sarah F. Reed b. 1841
Lucinda Reed b. 1865
Thomas Jackson Reed b. 1869
Henrietta Reed b. 1871

Was William Grey really a child of this couple since Lucinda would have been only 11 years old when he was born? Also, Lucinda, Thomas, & Henrietta were born when Lucinda was 57, 61, & 63. Not very likely. Was there another wife before Lucinda or is her birth year incorrect?
Then William remarried to Ceny/Seney Adams b. 1835 and they had the following children:
Homer Daniel Reed b.1873
Lloyd Reed b. 1876
Cora Bell Reed b. 1878
James Jefferson Reed b. 1880

William would have been 75 when he fathered James Jefferson Reed. That's amazing!

Also, I only have the 1870 census for Lucinda and the 1880 census for William and Ceny. Where are there prior to that?

My husband is related through James Harrison Reed. Thanks for your help!
